In the early 1940's, Vincenzo Amato purchased a few acres of farmland, now known as Hillside Plaza on the corner of Franklin Avenue and Corona Avenue. One of the family's first ventures was a nightclub called Pietro's operated by sons Peter and Jerry.Later a shopping center and gas station were built and in 1964 grandson James along with his father and uncle, opened Hillside Liquors. James became sole owner and has operated Hillside Liquors for forty years. Enter Philip Salierno in June 2007! Son-in-law of Jim, Phil has joined the team and together they have formulated an exciting business plan.
